Giving Back In New Orleans: At the 2019 Essence Festival, Master P not only helped lead his team to the W, but the hip-hop icon and business mogul also teamed-up with Wooter Apparel for another jersey/uniform collaboration.

This past weekend at the annual Essence Festival in New Orleans, Master P’s celebrity basketball game took center stage for the third-straight year in hopes of shining a focus on giving back around the Big Easy.

"This is about our people-- New Orleans," said Master P at Xavier University Convocation Center, with his Team NOLA squad earning a tough win over Team HOPE, 91-88.

Former University of Louisiana of Lafayette standout and pro shooting guard Dwayne Mitchell hit three free throws in the final 30 seconds and Romeo Miller’s half court shot that almost went in highlighted the game that included Rico Gathers of the Dallas Cowboys (and former basketball player at Baylor) finishing with 28 points and Mitchell going for 24 points in front of 2,500 fans.

The celebrity basketball game also provided the chance for Wooter Apparel and Master P to team-up again on a jersey collaboration together at the Essence Festival. For this year’s edition, the black and red/white and red uniforms aptly featured Master P’s new “I Got The Hook-Up 2” movie, Rap Snacks, AT&T, Moneyatti Sports, and Liberty Bank as sponsors.

At halftime, AT&T presented Master P with a check for $20,000 for the Team HOPE Scholarship Fund, as the New Orleans native and philanthropist continues to promote the importance of education and giving back to his community.

"This is where we're from. So it's so important. God's blessed me where I could come back and help out the community. Help the kids out. This game is called "Balling for a Cause." It's about the next generation helping them with education. I just love all the people that came out and showed-out, had a lot of fun. This is a family event and it gets bigger and bigger every year."
