Prodigy Prep's Julian Newman, Milan Harrison, and Emmanuel Maldonado Shining On The Court In Wooter Apparel
/Without question, one of the best parts about being able to create and customize sports jerseys and uniforms is being able to watch the process unfold from a mere design idea to actually seeing the apparel come to life through sports.
The concept: to have Wooter Apparel design a unique and quality look and feel for the first season of basketball for Central Florida based, Prodigy Prep. Yet what has emerged goes beyond the basketball court in terms of successfully achieving the goal of making a uniform that simply stands out thanks to the student-athletes that rep PRODIGY on the front and back of their jerseys.
It has been a long journey to get here.
When the 2019-20 basketball season got underway this Winter, one of the players making a name for himself and receiving a ton of press at Prodigy Prep was Julian Newman, the sensational quick footed point guard for the basketball-centric school that has become known for their young hoop stars elevating their game in Orlando under Prodigy Prep head coach, Jamie Newman. It was a year-ago now that the 18-year old Newman turned viral heads and eyes after going head-to-head on the court against boxing icon and champ, Floyd Mayweather during a previous Wooter/Boom Cups charity and celebrity basketball game. And while the spotlight remains firmly fixed on Newman this season thanks to his natural ability to get into the paint and finish at the rim, guys like 6’3 shooting guard Emmanuel Maldonado and Senior, Milan Harrison are also receiving their due shine.
Back in mid-November, the Newman and Maldonado backcourt helped lead Prodigy Prep to their first victory in program history in Daytona Beach, Florida against DME Academy. While Milan Harrison finished with 27 points for Prodigy (after just two games, the Senior point guard had tallied 65 points!), it was Julian and Emmanuel who provided a glimpse of big things to come as they both finished with 16 points in the win.
Rocking the silver, white, grey, and black customized V-neck cut Prodigy Prep uniforms from Wooter Apparel, seeing is believing.
These new kids on the block have become the Big 3 for Prodigy Prep in their inaugural season, ultimately making this an unforgettable year that is still in the making.
Newman is a bulldog on both ends of the floor, Maldonado is shifty smooth, while Harrison’s hefty scoring ability has led him to become the perfect piece to compliment the Prodigy Prep guard rotation. Looking ahead to the next few weeks, Prodigy Prep will have a full schedule and opportunities to standout with Grindsession and Impact Academy games remaining in January alone before closing out the season in March. It will go by fast. It always does. Just ask Julian and Jamie Newman about that. Seven years ago, the younger Newman was a starting point guard for Downey Christian School High School as a fifth-grader in Central Florida. Back then the question was posed if the whole “prodigy story” was too premature and ultimately putting pressure on a kid like Newman.
Today, Julian Newman, Emmanuel Maldonado, and Milan Harrison are showing they’re facing the pressures head-on with Prodigy Prep.
