Plans For Season 4 of Wooter Africa Take Shape With Basketball Bonanza Day In Morogoro, Tanzania

In organizing the “Basketball Bonanza Day” at the Sokoine University, Wooter Africa league commissioner Hamid Suleiman (wearing yellow, red, and green polo shirt) is providing young athletes a chance to unite off of the court in East Africa as preparations continue for Season 4 of Wooter Africa.
After the past three years of launching Wooter Africa, planning for basketball tournaments and games, and conducting community outreach events in East Africa, Wooter Africa league commissioner Hamid Suleiman is ready to make Season 4 of Wooter Africa another memorable affair.
Suleiman recently organized a “Basketball Bonanza Day” at the Sokoine University of Agriculture in the local town of Morogoro to share news about the growth of Wooter Africa and basketball in the area, with several young players and community members attending the seminar to learn more about the upcoming season and how both players and the league can improve in Season 4.
“My goal is still the same. I want to keep doing this league for my people, the players, and those individuals who are still undiscovered in the game of basketball,” Suleiman said when thinking about the start of Season 4 of Wooter Africa.
“For the young male and females who will be the future athletes, one day they’ll do the same for others much like Wooter Africa is providing for them now. My focus has been about improving the league for the young players so they have the chance to push themselves further.”
In addition to the gathering at Sokoine University and conducting basketball clinics and scrimmages at the Basketball Bonanza Day, Hamid Suleiman went on the air with local radio station, Dizzim 93.1 in Morogoro to share his vision for Wooter Africa.
Overall, the gathering in Morogoro at Sokoine University was the chance to look back on the success of previous seasons and discuss how local teams and University teams can come together for the good of growing the game of basketball in East Africa through Wooter Africa. Basketball Bonanza Day also included coverage from radio station Dizzim 93.1 in Morogo, media by Fadhili Omary Sizya (Sizyasports), Kaswa, Lucas laizer, and basketball trainer Phineas Kahabi, who runs UNMATCHED BASKETBALL.
Suleiman and Wooter Africa are committed to putting together another championship season complete with youth, men’s and women’s teams for Wooter Africa Season 4. Prior to the start of Season 3 of Wooter Africa last November, Wooter Africa became an official 501(c)3 non-profit organization with the overarching goal of giving back and empowering young athletes to excel through the game of basketball in East Africa. Communities continued to come together through basketball by drawing large crowds to local basketball courts, thanks to Suleiman teaming up with Wooter Apparel for Season 1 and Season 2 of Wooter Africa. With players outfitted in colorful customized Wooter Apparel uniforms that pay homage to Africa, teams like Stone Town, the Sixers, and the Africa Magic all raised trophies in the Finals to conclude Season 3 of Wooter Africa and provided a glimpse of the bright future of basketball throughout Tanzania.
“I want to take this time to thank everyone for pushing this league to become a movement,” Suleiman said at the end of Season 3.
Now with the start of Season 4 of Wooter Africa right around the corner, the movement keeps pushing forward in East Africa.
At the Basketball Bonanza Day led by Suleiman, players took part in skills development and training sessions with daily clinics conducted by Phineas Kahabi (UNMATCHED BASKETBALL), followed by friendly scrimmages. The end goal: to shift the focus from the offseason to conducting a basketball clinic next month as plans continue to come together for Season 4 of Wooter Africa.
It’s shaping up to be another season to remember.
